Submarine VR UI
As this was my first experience in VR, there was a lot different methods when creating an engaging UI. The micro animations on the UI that I usually practice was not going to translate too well into VR.
So instead I began using unity's XR events that let me make diegetic UI appear when your hand hovers over an interactable object. This saves having to have text blocking your VR experience and instead is readily available and readable at anytime. (Image 1 and 2)
We needed some form of direction for the player to follow as the ocean is an enormous landscape. Initial ideas such as maps and beacons came up but ultimately decided they didn't work too well in VR. Instead we created a 3D arrow that pointed in the direction of your next delivery so you can watch the arrow spin and line it up with your ship in real time. (Image 3)
About Submarine VR
Submarine VR was a short 3 week project that was made as an assessment piece for AIE.
Submarine VR was produced by a group with 3 designers, 1 programmer, 7 artists and a music producer.
The idea was to create a nice relaxing delivery game, in a calming underwater environment.
Load up packages and line them up with the delivery camera. Press the button to shoot out the package and deposit them in the underwater station.
